Joey Essex is poised to return to the boxing scene this weekend, preparing for a highly anticipated match against Dapper Laughs at the Copper Box Arena, hosted by Misfits Boxing. This event marks a significant moment for the 36-year-old reality star, who has seen notable changes in both his career and lifestyle over the past few years.

Essex’s Journey to the Ring

Since rising to fame on *The Only Way is Essex* over a decade ago, Joey has transformed his public persona and ventured into new domains. After relocating to Dubai in 2023, he is ready to step back into the boxing ring. Essex already boasts a victory in his boxing career, having defeated Numeiro in a middleweight match in Manchester in 2025. This upcoming bout not only highlights his athletic endeavors but also reflects his commitment to personal growth and resilience.

Despite his glitzy celebrity status, Essex has faced his share of adversities. In 2012, he was robbed at knifepoint by two men posing as fans. This traumatic experience left a lasting impression on him. “We did the picture they asked for, and when I put some money in the parking ticket machine, the geezers got hold of me,” he recalled in an interview. The memory serves as a stark reminder of the challenges he has faced, even in moments of fame.

Life Changes and Moving Forward

In recent years, Joey’s personal life has become even more complex. Following another troubling incident, a burglary at his Essex home, he expressed feelings of vulnerability. The break-in prompted him to consider a more permanent stay in Dubai, a decision for which he expressed gratitude to the local government and community. “Thank you to Mahmoud Al Burai and Shahab Ahmed Alsaadi for everything you have arranged for me,” he wrote. This transition marks an important chapter in his life, as he embraces the opportunities that Dubai has to offer.

While Essex initially divided his time between the UK and the UAE, his focus has shifted entirely to his boxing ambitions. The recent summer months saw him enjoying Ibiza, but his commitment to training has now taken precedence. He emphasizes the seriousness of his current boxing regime, stating, “These boxing camps are no joke. They’re not for everyone.” Essex understands the demands of this sport and is prepared to meet them head-on.

The Road Ahead

As he trains for his bout on October 10th, Essex draws parallels between his boxing preparations and his experience on *SAS: Who Dares Wins*. “You need extreme discipline. There are no games, no excuses,” he stated. His dedication to training at the Matchroom Gym reflects his belief that hard work is essential for success. Essex’s mantra, “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard,” encapsulates his current mindset as he gears up for the competition at the Copper Box Arena.

In summary, Joey Essex’s journey is one of resilience, growth, and determination. From navigating the challenges of fame to committing himself to the rigorous demands of boxing, he continues to push forward. The upcoming event against Dapper Laughs is not just a match; it’s a testament to his evolution as both an athlete and an individual. As he steps into the ring, fans can expect an unforgettable experience that highlights the transformative journey of this reality TV star turned boxer.
