AI Contest in Dubai with $272,000 Prize During Future Week
Dubai’s Upcoming AI and Robotics Competitions
In November, Dubai is set to host a series of exciting competitions centered around artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. Among these events, a highlight will be the AI Grandmaster contest, where a select group of 20 experts will vie for an impressive prize of $272,000.
The Challenge: Dubai’s Initiative for Future Technologies
Dubbed “The Challenge,” this initiative is a key part of the Dubai Future Foundation’s (DFF) efforts to advance innovation in AI, robotics, and other evolving technologies. It aims to provide a platform for skilled participants to showcase their talents and introduce real-world applications for their creations. Rather than just discussing new technologies, this competition encourages contestants to display their ingenuity and problem-solving skills under demanding conditions.
The core event, AI Grandmaster, will feature competitors navigating through rigorous elimination rounds designed to evaluate their abilities in AI orchestration, product development, and integration. Participants will face various challenges that require them to deliver tangible results promptly, ultimately testing their true potential as AI innovators.
Expanding Beyond Prompt Engineering
This year’s competition will build on the success of the Global Prompt Engineering Championship 2025, which garnered considerable attention, attracting over 3,800 applicants from 125 countries. Unlike previous editions, the focus will shift from merely prompt engineering to a broader evaluation of participants’ skills in synthesizing AI tools and crafting practical solutions for real-world problems.
At the culmination of the competition, the standout performer will be awarded AED 1 million (approximately $272,000) along with the title of Dubai AI Grandmaster. This prestigious accolade will not only serve as a recognition of exceptional talent but also as a stepping stone for future endeavors in the rapidly expanding AI landscape.
Robotics Competition: An Autonomous Library Assistant
In addition to the AI Grandmaster event, “The Challenge” will also showcase the finals of the Emirates Robotics Competition. University teams from across the United Arab Emirates will compete to design an autonomous library assistant, capable of identifying, managing, and transporting books effectively. This focused competition is spearheaded by Dubai Future Labs, under the DFF umbrella.
Teams will utilize a standardized robotic platform but must develop unique software to control their machines. Competitors will showcase their systems during the live finals, where their robots’ ability to execute designated tasks will be scrutinized. The emphasis on perception, grasp planning, navigation, and autonomy will be key factors determining success.
An Overview of Dubai Future Week
These competitions will take center stage at Dubai Future Week, occurring from November 18 to 21, 2026, at famed venues like the Emirates Towers and the Museum of the Future. The event aligns with the theme “For the Human of the Future” and anticipates participation from over 10,000 attendees. It aims to delve into how scientific and technological advancements may reshape everyday life.
Beyond AI and robotics, Dubai Future Week will examine other critical fields such as quantum computing, biotechnology, and materials science. Attendees can look forward to over 100 prototypes, startup pitches, workshops, and interactive experiences designed to foster discussion on how innovation can address societal challenges.
This four-day event promises to be a landmark occasion, bringing together a global audience to explore the intersection of science, technology, and human potential.
