Woman shares how Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Dubai shaped her life.

Relocating to a new city can be a daunting experience, yet it offers unique opportunities for personal growth and cultural enrichment. The journey of Thejaswini Reddy, who lived in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Dubai, illustrates how diverse environments shape one’s perspective on independence, responsibilities, and the nuances of professional networking.

The Cultural Awakening in Bengaluru

Reddy’s journey began in a small village in Andhra Pradesh, where her early education was rooted in a Telugu-medium school. Moving to Bengaluru at the age of 10 marked a significant turning point in her life. The bustling city exposed her to a variety of languages, cultures, and social dynamics, broadening her worldview.

In her words, “Bengaluru opened my eyes to the world beyond my village. It was a melting pot of cultures, and it helped shape my identity.” The transition from a quiet village to a vibrant urban landscape taught her valuable lessons about diversity and adaptability. This change ignited her curiosity and encouraged her to embrace new experiences and perspectives.

Embracing Independence in Hyderabad

Hyderabad played a crucial role in Reddy’s journey toward adulthood. Unlike her peers, she did not have a hostel experience during her college years, making her eager to explore life on her own. When she secured a job in Hyderabad, she seized the opportunity to live independently.

“This city was where I learned to take charge of my life,” Reddy shared. From grocery shopping to laundry, every task became a stepping stone toward personal responsibility. Learning to navigate these daily challenges empowered her and marked the beginning of her journey toward self-sufficiency. Hyderabad, with its vibrant culture and opportunities, served as a launchpad for her adult life.

The Power of Networking in Dubai

At the age of 31, Reddy took another significant leap by moving to Dubai to join her husband. Leaving a stable job in India was a risk, and finding employment in this new city proved to be quite challenging. Despite applying for numerous positions online, she often found herself ghosted by potential employers.

“Dubai taught me the importance of networking in a professional landscape,” Reddy remarked. Eventually, it was a connection she made years prior that helped her land a job. This experience highlighted that professional relationships can often open doors that traditional applications cannot. The lesson she learned about the power of networking has stayed with her as she navigates her career.

Lessons from Three Cities

Reddy poignantly reflects on her experiences in her Instagram video. “Bengaluru showed me the world outside my village, Hyderabad taught me how to manage daily life, and Dubai unveiled the significance of networking.” Each city played a distinct role in shaping her identity, values, and professional outlook.

Her journey emphasizes that relocating can be a transformative experience, imparting essential lessons on independence, social awareness, and career growth. As more people consider moving to new cities for work or personal reasons, Reddy’s insights serve as a reminder of the invaluable growth that can be achieved through such changes.
