Dubai-Hatta Trade Rises 175% to Dh37.08 Billion in H1 2026.

During the first half of the year, Hatta’s customs crossing has experienced significant growth in vehicle and trade traffic, marking a new milestone in regional commerce. The latest figures from Dubai Customs reveal a substantial uptick in loaded truck traffic, responding to the evolving dynamics of trade and travel in the region.

Surge in Vehicle Traffic and Trade Activity

The statistics indicate a staggering 160.1% rise in loaded truck traffic, with 108,811 vehicles recorded, compared to just 41,831 during the same period last year. This remarkable increase is paralleled by heightened traveler numbers, as over 919,000 individuals and roughly 322,000 light vehicles were processed through the Hatta crossing in the first half of the year. Additionally, the number of buses crossing the border saw an impressive 77.5% increase, reflecting a rise in both commercial transport and personal travel between the UAE and surrounding Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations.

Dubai Customs attributes this growth to several factors, particularly the introduction of policies designed to facilitate smoother trade flows and ensure the continuity of supply chains amid changing regional circumstances. The Hatta crossing has emerged as a vital link for commercial transport while simultaneously accommodating travelers moving across the region, indicating its dual importance in both commerce and tourism.

Innovative Measures to Enhance Trade Efficiency

Among the initiatives aimed at bolstering trade efficiency is Dubai Customs’ Green Corridor program. This initiative is crucial in maintaining the uninterrupted movement of goods through Hatta, ensuring that supply chains remain intact even as global trade patterns shift. Moreover, the authority has broadened its base of logistics service providers, successfully attracting new entrants into the market. This strategy not only enhances competition but also provides businesses with more options to navigate the challenges posed by escalating global shipping expenses.

The implementation of technology in monitoring goods has also been a game changer. Hatta Customs Centre reported the deployment of 7,870 electronic seals on trucks in the first half of 2026. The advanced Shahin smart electronic seal system allows for the secure tracking of shipments, eliminating extra charges for customers while enhancing shipment security. This innovative approach aims to minimize operational risks and improve the reliability of goods movement.

Customs Inspections and Trade Security

This surge in trade activity has not gone unnoticed, as customs inspections have ramped up significantly. The Customs Inspection Sector at Hatta Crossing documented 129 seizures in the initial six months of 2026, underscoring the ongoing vigilance in trade security. Dubai Customs has emphasized that the operational measures implemented at Hatta are integral to safeguarding society and the national economy while facilitating trade flows.

Overall, the developments at Hatta’s customs crossing are indicative of a vibrant and growing economic landscape, characterized by increased trade and travel efficiency. With continued focus on technological advances and strategic partnerships, Hatta is poised to become a cornerstone of regional commerce in the years to come.
