Dubai and DHL Enhance Export Preparedness for Local Manufacturers

The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) is taking significant strides to enhance the competitiveness of local manufacturers. Through its Export Assistance Programme (EAP), DET has partnered with the global logistics leader DHL to provide a comprehensive workshop aimed at boosting export readiness among Dubai-based manufacturers. This initiative sets the stage for businesses to navigate international markets more effectively.

Strategic Collaboration for Export Growth

The workshop, which recently engaged over 50 manufacturers, is part of a broader strategic alliance announced during the “Make it in the Emirates 2026” initiative. This partnership allows eligible EAP members to benefit from preferential shipping rates, tailored logistics solutions, and extensive supply chain support. The goal is to simplify and reduce the costs associated with exporting goods from Dubai, ultimately allowing local manufacturers to compete on a global scale.

During the session, DHL experts shared invaluable insights into global logistics strategies and supply chain management. This guidance is designed to help manufacturers better understand the complexities of scaling their operations both regionally and internationally. By improving their logistics capabilities, businesses can approach international growth with greater confidence.

Focused Support for Local Manufacturers

Mohamed Al Marzooqi, Acting Associate Vice President of Manufacturing & Exports Development at the Dubai Economic Development Corporation (DEDC), emphasized the importance of translating strategic partnerships into actionable support. According to Al Marzooqi, Dubai’s manufacturers possess the potential to thrive in the global marketplace. The collaboration with DHL delivers practical resources that empower businesses to make informed logistics decisions while pursuing international expansion. This effort aligns with the ambitious goals outlined in the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33.

DHL Express UAE’s Managing Director, Mahmoud Haj Hussein, highlighted the immense growth opportunities for Dubai’s manufacturers beyond the UAE. The partnership brings together DHL’s expansive global network and expert knowledge in cross-border logistics to facilitate smoother international trade pathways. This collaboration aims to make it easier for local businesses to reach new markets and customer bases.

Realizing the Benefits of International Trade

In the context of rising challenges such as increased landed costs and longer lead times, Viktoria Lebedeva, Head of Sales & Marketing at DHL Global Forwarding UAE, pointed out that successful international growth requires more than merely transportation access. By integrating multiple modes of freight—air, ocean, and road—DHL helps manufacturers construct supply chains that suit their unique cost and speed requirements. This tailored approach, combined with local expertise, is particularly beneficial for the manufacturing sector in Dubai.

Overall, this initiative supports the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda, which aims to substantially increase manufacturing value-added output by 2033. With modern infrastructure, advanced production capabilities, and Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (CEPAs) linking local manufacturers to global supply chains, Dubai is well-positioned to become a leading hub for trade and enterprise growth.

Through the Export Assistance Programme, DET is committed to breaking down barriers to international trade while improving access to logistics expertise. This initiative enables more Dubai-based businesses to seize new opportunities, expand their global reach, and solidify the emirate’s status as a premier destination for trade and manufacturing. By addressing the real market needs of manufacturers and exporters, the EAP helps strengthen their competitiveness and facilitate entry into high-potential markets with greater assurance.
