Dubai Economic Zones Boost Oraseya Fund to $272 Million

The Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) has made headlines by doubling the venture capital fund operated by its investment arm, Oraseya Capital, increasing it from AED500 million to AED1 billion (approximately $136 million to $272.2 million). This strategic move is designed to bolster Oraseya Capital’s ability to support companies with significant growth potential on a global scale, reinforcing Dubai’s ambitions as a leading global entrepreneurial hub.

Strengthening the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem

The expansion of Oraseya Capital’s fund is significant as it aims to enhance the ecosystem surrounding promising startups. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of DIEZ, emphasized that this move reflects confidence in Dubai’s status as a hub for technological innovation. “Expanding the fund’s capacity strengthens the ecosystem around promising companies, providing them with the capital, expertise, and opportunities they need to expand into regional and global markets,” he stated.

The objective is not merely to inject capital into startups but also to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in line with the Dubai Economic Agenda, known as D33. By increasing the fund size, both Oraseya Capital and DIEZ are contributing to enhancing Dubai’s role in the global venture capital landscape. This initiative will help in fostering a vibrant environment for investments, aimed at future industries and innovative sectors.

Investment Focus and Phased Growth Support

Oraseya Capital is broadening its investment mandate, which now accommodates companies at various stages of growth, including those beyond the Series B phase. This allows the fund to support startups that have already demonstrated solid business models while still offering guidance and funding to early-stage ventures. Such a strategy is essential for cultivating a diverse range of innovative businesses in the region.

Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, Executive Chairman of DIEZ, remarked that doubling the fund’s size is indicative of Oraseya Capital’s effective investment model and the positive results achieved since its inception. It enhances their ability to meet the needs of budding enterprises at different growth stages while paving the way for impactful partnerships in investment.

Acknowledging Achievements and Future Outlook

Oraseya Capital has quickly positioned itself within the UAE’s venture capital scene, earning the title of the most active investor in the country by deal count for three consecutive years, according to venture capital data provider MAGNiTT. In the 2024 rankings, Oraseya Capital retained its top spot and continued to do so in 2025, topping both overall deal volume and early-stage investment activities in the first half of 2026.

The recognition extends beyond rankings; Oraseya Capital was awarded ‘Venture Capital Firm of the Year’ at the Entrepreneur Middle East Awards, reflecting its commitment to fostering innovation. These achievements align with the broader vision of making Dubai a central hub for capital and innovation in the region.

In moving forward, DIEZ is set on ushering Oraseya Capital into a new phase that integrates a clear investment approach, combining capital, expertise, and access to a comprehensive network of investors. This will not only fortify the fund’s role in supporting startups but also contribute significantly to the UAE’s overall economic diversification strategy.
