Global Health Expo to Highlight Trillion-Dollar Pharma and Wellness Growth in 2027

The upcoming World Health Expo (WHX) in Dubai promises to be a transformative event for the healthcare industry, particularly with the introduction of new sectors focusing on Pharma, Biotech, Longevity, and Wellness. This expansion underscores Dubai’s growing prominence as a global leader in life sciences and foreign direct investment (FDI) within the healthcare sector.

Expanding Healthcare Horizons

Scheduled for January 25-28, 2027, at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo City, and the Dubai World Trade Centre, WHX aims to unite over 4,200 exhibitors and attract more than 235,000 professionals from more than 195 countries. This gathering will not only facilitate vital discussions but also foster innovation and partnerships aimed at driving growth in these rapidly evolving sectors. The inclusion of Pharma, Biotech, Longevity, and Wellness serves as a testament to the trillion-dollar potential these industries hold.

As healthcare investment continues to soar across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), projections from PwC Middle East indicate a healthcare expenditure of US$159 billion by 2029. Currently, over 160 healthcare projects valued at approximately US$53.2 billion are underway in the region, equipping it to become a significant hub for innovation.

The Longevity Economy: New Frontiers

A notable area of growth is the global longevity economy, which is expected to reach US$5.4 trillion by 2034, growing at a rate of 6-7% annually, according to the Bank of Singapore. The UAE’s longevity market is projected to rise to US$32 billion in 2027, compared to just US$19 billion in 2020, emphasizing the immense possibilities within this sector. The introduction of dedicated sectors at WHX will facilitate a platform for showcasing advancements in preventive measures, healthy aging, and overall wellness.

Pharmaceuticals represent a significant area of opportunity, with the global prescription medicine market reaching an estimated US$1.7 trillion in 2025. The Middle East and Africa are experiencing even more rapid growth, with sales skyrocketing by 18% annually—the highest growth rate among all regions surveyed by IQVIA.

Connecting Opportunities and Innovations

Solenne Singer, Senior Vice President of Healthcare at inD, stated, “Healthcare investment is expanding rapidly into pharmaceuticals, biotech, longevity, and wellness, marking a fundamental shift in where the industry sees future value.” By bringing together various stakeholders, including developers, funders, and regulatory bodies, WHX establishes a critical platform for meaningful conversations that can harness the opportunities found within these sectors.

The newly formed Longevity and Wellness sectors will emphasize topics such as preventive health measures, precision health, and the overall importance of a healthy lifestyle. The launch of the Dubai Longevity Authority in June 2026 highlights the emirate’s ambition to enhance the quality of life and life expectancy, further aligning with the goals set by WHX.

In addition to the Longevity and Wellness segments, the Pharma industry will gather pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology innovators, and healthcare organizations to navigate an exciting phase of growth in life sciences. Dubai is emerging as a key player in this space, having ranked first globally for greenfield FDI projects in life sciences in 2025, as reported by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.

As the WHX 2027 event approaches, it is poised to attract over 90,000 unique attendees alongside the abundant exhibitors. The Connections Programme will streamline networking opportunities, enabling participants to engage meaningfully through themed sessions. Collectively, WHX, WHX Tech, and WHX Leaders will converge to create a comprehensive experience in healthcare innovation and leadership, connecting global stakeholders in one city during one memorable week.
