His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, recently acknowledged SWS Board Technology with the prestigious Dubai-it Award in the Economic Sector. This recognition celebrates the remarkable achievements of the company, which has successfully established one of the largest manufacturing hubs for snow and water sports boards globally, utilizing its specialization in composite materials to craft a state-of-the-art industrial ecosystem in Dubai that caters to markets around the world.

Innovative Growth in Dubai

Sheikh Hamdan commented on the unexpected emergence of such a significant manufacturing operation from Dubai, once primarily recognized for its desert landscape. He expressed pride in how SWS has thrived, stating, “Who would have imagined that one of the world’s largest snowboard manufacturing operations would evolve in a city that was once desert?” Underlining the significant impact of SWS, he noted that the company now produces half of the global kiteboards and wakeboards, along with one-third of the world’s snowboards, boasting a capacity of over 450,000 boards annually, with more than 6 million boards sold worldwide.

Rainier Nouhra, the founder of SWS, combined his engineering prowess and passion for sports to create a global manufacturing empire. His commitment to fostering his team’s skills through ongoing development and research has resulted in enhanced quality and efficiency in production, thereby clearing the path for international expansion. Leveraging Dubai’s advantageous geography and excellent logistics, SWS has effectively built robust partnerships with leading snow and water sports brands, facilitating significant exports to various global markets.

A Complete Manufacturing Ecosystem

SWS Board Technology has developed a cohesive industrial framework that encompasses all phases of production—from research and design to manufacturing, quality assurance, and distribution. This comprehensive approach has secured SWS’s position as a foremost collaborator for global brands in the snow and water sports sector. Moreover, the company has introduced cutting-edge board-manufacturing technologies and established fully recyclable board programs, which enable the reuse of approximately 95% of materials, contributing to resource efficiency and promoting circular economy principles.

His Excellency Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Chairman of The Executive Office, remarked on the significance of the Dubai-it Award, proclaiming that true ambition knows no geographical boundaries. He emphasized that recognizing SWS Board Technology reflects a forward-thinking strategy that has propelled Dubai into the global manufacturing arena. This acknowledgment not only showcases SWS’s achievements but also highlights how a project can flourish in a region where similar ventures had little prior existence.

Dubai’s Road to Economic Excellence

The Dubai-it Award serves as a testament to the city’s commitment to its philosophy of innovation and excellence across various sectors. The progress made by SWS exemplifies how Dubai turns the seemingly impossible into reality through unwavering ambition and swift execution.
