Dubai’s Groundbreaking AI Literacy Platform for Families

In a significant advancement for digital education, the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI) has introduced GenDubAI, a pioneering platform aimed at equipping parents with the knowledge and tools to guide their children’s interactions with artificial intelligence (AI). This innovative service is a response to the growing need for safe, responsible, and creative use of technology among younger generations.

Empowering Families with AI Knowledge

Developed in partnership with the Community Development Authority (CDA) and the Dubai Future Foundation, GenDubAI is the first online educational platform of its kind in the region. Its primary goal is to enhance creativity and family engagement while ensuring children’s privacy and safety online. This initiative aligns with the broader objectives of the Dubai Social Agenda 33 and the UAE’s Year of the Family, reinforcing the importance of interactive family experiences that foster the constructive use of AI.

GenDubAI offers parents and children an array of easily accessible, engaging content that resonates with the cultural values of the UAE. With resources that address common questions about AI, the platform aims to empower children to utilize technology effectively while promoting critical thinking and creativity. Additionally, it introduces parents to the essential concepts and tools of AI, along with insights into its benefits and potential pitfalls.

A Platform Made for Families

This user-friendly platform caters to families with children aged 8 to 15 and is available in both Arabic and English. It features a mobile-friendly design, making it easy for families to access learning materials on the go. Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director-General of the CDA, highlighted the increasing role of AI in the lives of young people, emphasizing the collective responsibility of families and society to foster awareness, instill core values, and prepare children for responsible engagement with technology.

Buhumaid stated, “Preparing for the future starts with people. Empowering future generations with tomorrow’s tools must coincide with a solid foundation of awareness and responsibility.” By centering families in the AI learning process, GenDubAI transforms technology into a collaborative environment for education and creativity, nurturing a shared understanding of how to engage with AI positively.

Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of Dubai Future Foundation, emphasized that the UAE stands at the forefront of AI adoption globally, paralleling the increased use of smart devices among children. Saeed Al Falasi, Executive Director of the DCAI, explained that GenDubAI not only reflects local cultural identity but also fosters meaningful family interactions around technology usage.
