Dubai has intensified its collaborative efforts with India in the realm of agentic AI, marking a significant step toward technological advancement. A preliminary agreement was recently established between Dubai Chambers and India’s National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom), which is geared towards enabling private firms to adopt this innovative technology. This partnership is particularly beneficial for Indian companies looking to expand their presence within the UAE, as reported by the state news agency, Wam.
Understanding Agentic AI
Agentic AI refers to intelligent systems capable of understanding objectives, devising steps to achieve them, and executing actions with minimal human intervention. These advanced systems are increasingly prevalent in both operations and mobile devices, providing significant assistance to users. The collaboration between India and the UAE on AI began in 2018, focusing on mutual benefits that can arise from shared expertise in artificial intelligence. The technology promises to automate intricate processes beyond the capabilities of traditional AI tools, enabling seamless completion of multi-step workflows. This includes tasks such as processing customer requests, managing procurement, and ensuring compliance. Consequently, businesses can expect reduced operational costs, accelerated service delivery, and the ability for employees to concentrate on more complex tasks that require human judgment.
Boosting Economic Potential
Nasscom, which encompasses over 3,500 members from India’s tech sector, anticipates that this new agreement will foster knowledge exchange, helping them leverage business opportunities within the UAE. For Indian tech companies, this deal opens doors to a market eager to embrace agentic AI, while firms in Dubai can tap into India’s vast reservoir of talent, developers, and AI-related expertise. As Mohammad Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, aptly noted, Dubai’s commitment to facilitating the transition to agentic AI signals a groundbreaking global initiative that aims to enhance the competitiveness of the business landscape. This collaborative effort is expected to empower companies to effectively utilize advanced technologies, setting a strong foundation for future economic growth.
Government Initiatives and Future Directions
The Dubai government remains unwavering in its ambition regarding AI. In April, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, announced a plan that aims to perform 50% of government services using AI agents within the next two years. This initiative seeks to not only transform operational efficiencies but also improve decision-making processes across government sectors. Furthermore, Dubai has established a two-year action plan aimed at harnessing advanced AI technologies within the emirate’s private sector, ensuring a competitive edge in the global landscape.
The action plan encompasses more than mere adoption targets; it includes specialized training and resources to assist businesses in integrating agentic AI into their operations. The Dubai Chamber of Commerce intends to set up incubators for agentic AI companies and dedicate funds to facilitate this transition. The focus is on turning private companies into self-sustaining innovation hubs, resulting in enhanced productivity and cost reductions, thereby bolstering economic development across various sectors.
According to recent reports, a staggering 99% of Indian companies are planning to embrace agentic AI in their operations, although only 14% have implemented it thus far. This statistic emphasizes the urgency and necessity of international cooperation in building a robust ecosystem that supports the adoption of this transformative technology. As Mr. Lootah remarked, these joint initiatives will solidify Dubai’s position as a leader in advanced technologies while fostering their integration across diverse business models.
