Dubai Introduces €700 Discounts with New Friend Referral Program
In an exciting move to boost tourism, Dubai is rolling out discounts of up to €700 for residents who invite friends and family to visit the vibrant emirate. This initiative aims to encourage locals to become ambassadors for the city, showcasing its unparalleled attractions and experiences.
Generous Discounts for Residents
The Dubai government announced that residents wishing to welcome loved ones between July 20 and October 31 can receive benefits exceeding AED 3,000 (€716). These perks include hotel accommodations, dining opportunities, tickets to popular attractions, and more. This campaign, titled “A Dubai Invite,” enables residents to nominate guests through the Visit Dubai website, allowing them to take advantage of significant savings.
Among the enticing offers, residents can enjoy 45% off at Meliá Desert Palm, complimentary tickets to Aquaventure and IMG Worlds of Adventure, as well as two-for-one deals at renowned restaurants like ULA, Asia Asia, and The 305. Such deals ensure that residents can enjoy quality time with their visitors without breaking the bank.
Tourism Trends in Dubai
Dubai is renowned for its tourism scene, attracting roughly 19.5 million visitors annually. Once considered a playground for the elite, the emirate is now focused on diversifying its visitor base. While summers typically see fewer tourists, with temperatures soaring to 50°C, this promotion aims to revive local tourism during these off-peak months.
The ongoing geopolitical tensions in the region have also impacted tourism. Although the UAE has largely remained unaffected by recent conflicts, the escalation in US-Iran relations has altered perceptions and brought caution among travelers. In light of these challenges, Dubai has resorted to local sources for tourism support, especially since hotels are relying heavily on domestic visitors in the current climate.
Economic Measures and Recovery Efforts
To counter the adverse effects of recent regional instability, the Dubai government implemented an economic relief package exceeding $400 million (€350 million) to support struggling businesses. This initiative includes waiving municipal fees for hotels and restaurants, reducing fines related to customs violations, and lowering fees for aviation permits. These measures demonstrate the government’s commitment to maintaining a robust tourism industry and ensuring businesses remain viable.
Earlier, in March, a similar relief package worth over $270 million (€236 million) had been announced to assist families and local enterprises. Airlines in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi have responded by introducing travel insurance schemes aimed at reassuring travelers. For instance, Emirates airlines now provide the option of comprehensive travel coverage at an additional cost, a crucial step to ease concerns over travel advisories.
Overall, as Dubai navigates through these complex challenges, the “Dubai Invite” program represents a strategic approach to invigorate local tourism and foster a sense of community. By encouraging residents to share their city with friends and family, Dubai hopes to create lasting memories while rebuilding its reputation as a top travel destination.
