Dubai’s Creator Program Enhances Tourism Initiatives
Dubai Press Club (DPC), in partnership with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), has rolled out an exciting new phase of the Dubai Content Creators Programme, targeting the vital areas of tourism and economic growth. This initiative aims to empower content creators by enhancing their skills in digital storytelling and production, while also promoting Dubai’s unique offerings as a premier global destination for both tourism and business.
The Importance of Digital Storytelling in Destination Marketing
As the role of content creators becomes increasingly significant in destination marketing, effective digital storytelling has emerged as a key strategy for engaging audiences and conveying the essence of cities. This updated phase of the Dubai Content Creators Programme seeks to reflect this trend by equipping participants with the necessary tools and techniques to tell compelling stories about Dubai.
The comprehensive two-week training program encompasses 40 hours of instruction, delivered in collaboration with regional and international media entities, digital platforms, and academic institutions. Participants will delve into a range of disciplines, including storytelling, creative writing, filming, editing, and graphic design. A notable focus will also be on integrating artificial intelligence to enhance the quality and efficiency of digital content production.
The emphasis is placed not only on creative skills but also on understanding digital publishing strategies, audience engagement, and data analytics. This multifaceted approach is aimed at equipping content creators to produce high-quality material that paints a vivid picture of Dubai’s tourism and economic sectors.
Empowering Creators for Future Growth
Aida Al Busaidy, Vice President of Consumer Advocacy and Social at DET, underscored the pivotal role of content creators within Dubai’s broader destination marketing framework. With over a decade of collaboration with these individuals, DET has established a robust global network that operates in more than 80 countries.
“Creators are essential to DET’s holistic marketing strategy, enabling us to relay a genuine narrative that highlights the people, communities, and experiences making Dubai a desirable destination for work, leisure, and living,” Al Busaidy remarked. She added that investing in the development of creators’ skills aligns seamlessly with the objectives outlined in the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33, thereby fostering the future of the creative economy.
Responsible Practices in Tourism Promotion
Kicking off the program was a workshop titled “Tourism Promotion Guide: Standards, Ethics and Responsibility,” conducted by the Dubai College of Tourism under the DET’s banner. This workshop introduced participants to industry standards for promoting Dubai as a prime tourism destination, emphasizing the importance of cultural awareness, responsible visitor engagement, and ethical marketing practices.
Additionally, the workshop delved into transparency and disclosure requirements for collaborations and sponsorships within the tourism sector, reinforcing the need for integrity in creator-led marketing. Maryam Al Mulla, Director of Dubai Press Club, remarked that this new phase aligns with their mission to provide creators with the practical skills required to create specialized digital content.
In summary, this latest initiative by Dubai Press Club and DET is a proactive step towards nurturing a thriving creator economy. By focusing on advanced digital skills and ethical practices, the program positions its participants as credible storytellers, ready to share the vibrant narrative of Dubai with the world.
