Dubai CommerCity initiates Dh1.8 billion expansion for digital economy enhancement.

Dubai’s digital economy is poised for significant growth with the announcement of the second phase of expansion at Dubai CommerCity (DCC). As Dubai’s first free zone dedicated exclusively to digital commerce, the initiative, backed by the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) and Wasl Group, represents a substantial investment of over Dh1.8 billion. This phase aims to further establish Dubai’s role in fostering a robust digital economy, addressing the surging demand for commercial space.

Addressing Growing Demand for Office Space

The ongoing expansion is fueled by remarkable occupancy rates, currently nearing 96% across DCC’s office, logistics, and retail spaces. To accommodate this demand, Phase Two will introduce more than 91,000 square meters of new office space. This addition will span across DCC’s three clusters: Business, Logistics, and Social, with the Business and Social Clusters alone contributing 86,000 square meters of this new space.

Within the Business Cluster, six new office buildings will provide various workspace solutions, including shell-and-core offices and fully furnished environments tailored for companies at different growth stages. As part of the expansion plan, the first set of these buildings will be ready for occupancy by the first quarter of 2027, followed by the second phase slated for completion by early 2028. Meanwhile, the Social Cluster aims to enhance the community experience by introducing retail outlets, restaurants, and cafes to support the vibrant business ecosystem within Dubai CommerCity.

Innovative Logistics Solutions

The Logistics Cluster will see the introduction of “The Hive,” a pioneering facility of 5,600 square meters designed to cater to modern digital commerce needs. This facility will feature 181 flexible units, starting from five square meters, and climate-controlled fulfillment areas that operate 24/7. Additionally, it will include digitally managed loading and unloading zones and dedicated last-mile delivery services, all while integrating sustainability features such as electric vehicle charging stations and renewable energy solutions adhering to LEED certification standards.

His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, the Executive Chairman of DIEZ and Chairman of Dubai CommerCity, emphasized that this expansion signifies a strategic move to position Dubai as a key global hub for digital commerce. He pointed out that the project aligns with the growing demands of businesses in this sector while facilitating an environment conducive to economic ambitions.

Strengthening Dubai’s Economic Ecosystem

The partnership between Wasl Group and DIEZ plays a crucial role in realizing this vision. His Excellency Hesham Abdulla Al Qassim, Vice Chairman and Group CEO of Wasl Group, remarked on the mutual benefits of this collaboration. He highlighted how the ongoing development will provide advanced infrastructure, enabling companies to thrive in both regional and global markets from Dubai.

Amidst this exciting growth, Dubai CommerCity has reported substantial operational success in recent years. The number of e-commerce parcels shipped surged by 152% over the past year, while cargo processed through the DCC Way transit platform increased by 14% in 2025. The new developments are designed to promote a smart and efficient operational environment, enabling businesses to adapt and scale their operations in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

In conclusion, the second phase of Dubai CommerCity’s expansion is set to solidify Dubai’s position as a leader in the digital economy. This ambitious initiative reflects the emirate’s resilience and commitment to innovation, ensuring that it remains a premier destination for businesses across various sectors.
