AED79m Boost for Private Sector through Economic Packages

Dubai Customs has recently rolled out a series of economic measures that have substantially enhanced liquidity within the private sector, amounting to over AED 79 million. These initiatives, introduced under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, have been crucial in sustaining trade volumes, which reached AED 33.9 billion between March 1 and June 30, 2026.

Strengthening Economic Resilience

In response to various regional developments, Dubai Customs implemented strategies aimed at fortifying economic resilience and maintaining steady trade operations. By bolstering business confidence, these measures not only provided immediate support for thousands of enterprises but also helped solidify Dubai’s status as a vital trade and logistics hub. This initiative aligns with the targets set out in the Dubai Economic Agenda, known as D33.

His Excellency Abdulla bin Damithan, the Chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, emphasized the emirate’s ability to swiftly adapt to evolving circumstances, a key component of its economic robustness. As geopolitical and economic changes emerged, the Corporation mobilized its resources to offer practical solutions that would keep businesses operational and enhance investor confidence across Dubai’s commercial landscape. The chairman remarked on the responsibility to uphold the emirate’s achievements and foster conditions that allow for ongoing growth.

Encouraging Investor Confidence

His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Busenad, Director General of Dubai Customs, highlighted how recent customs facilitation measures directly support the leadership’s vision while also addressing the challenges faced by businesses. These strategies reinforce the private sector by ensuring that trade operations can continue smoothly. Remarkably, from March 1 to June 30, 2026, Dubai Customs welcomed over 4,000 new clients, reflecting the heightened investor confidence bolstered by these supportive policies.

The suite of economic packages crafted by Dubai Customs has had a tangible impact on the business climate, demonstrating the effectiveness of flexible financial and operational measures. Rashid Al-Sharid, Executive Director of the Finance and Administration Division, noted that the support system was responsive to the specific demands of businesses, streamlining customs duties and easing the overall operational burden. Measures like deferred deadlines for suspended duty cases and reducing penalties by 80% played a significant role in the liquidity infusion for 428 businesses.

The Green Corridor: A Vital Initiative

To further ensure seamless trade flows, Dubai Customs established the Green Corridor, designed for rapid movement of goods across alternate routes amid regional disruptions. Between March and June 2026, the Green Corridor enabled the transport of over 203,242 containers, reflecting a total cargo weight exceeding 3.16 million tonnes. This success underscores Dubai’s ongoing commitment to maintaining operational efficiency and supply chain integrity.

The diverse array of goods transported through the Green Corridor proves the versatility of Dubai’s trade ecosystem. Food products alone accounted for more than AED 5.3 billion, while machinery, vehicles, and plastics collectively contributed significantly as well. In addition to this, medicinal products worth AED 446.6 million were also transported, affirming Dubai’s role as a key player in the global supply chain.

In conclusion, Dubai Customs continues to engage actively with the business community to identify and address challenges pertinent to customs clearance and logistics. By fostering collaboration and rapidly implementing solutions, these efforts are not just improving service delivery but also enhancing the overall flexibility of trade within the emirate. As Dubai navigates an ever-changing economic landscape, such measures are essential for sustaining growth and maintaining its competitive edge on the global stage.
