Meraas reveals residential masterplan for Dubai’s waterfront community.

Meraas, part of Dubai Holding Real Estate, has announced a comprehensive expansion of the residential plan for Dubai Design District (d3). This transformative initiative aims to position d3 as one of the most sought-after creative waterfront neighborhoods in Dubai.

Location and Scope of the New Masterplan

Strategically situated between Downtown Dubai and Dubai Creek Harbour, the new masterplan covers an impressive 18 million square feet. The design integrates various segments such as residential, cultural, retail, and hospitality, bolstering Dubai’s aspiration to establish itself as a leading hub for design, innovation, and culture. This endeavor aligns seamlessly with the ambitious Dubai Economic Agenda D33.

A Walkable, Human-Centric Environment

One of the striking features of this reimagined masterplan is the Design Line, a pedestrian-focused pathway designed to connect the entire district. This shaded corridor will promote walkability while enhancing community engagement through public art, creativity-driven installations, and green spaces. The emphasis on a human-centric lifestyle strengthens d3’s reputation as a pioneering urban area focused on design and innovation.

Distinctive Neighborhood Character Zones

The plan divides d3 into five unique zones, each contributing to the neighborhood’s overall identity. The waterfront portion will feature contemporary residences and boutique hospitality options, complemented by an energetic promenade. The urban hub will seamlessly blend residential units with curated dining and retail experiences, adding vibrancy to the already established creative landscape. Furthermore, a cultural center is set to host performing arts venues and mid-rise homes that overlook the d3 Bowl. Another area is designed with wellness in mind, incorporating parks, sports facilities, and a mangrove-inspired landscape, while the final zone will focus on artistry, featuring galleries, studios, and loft spaces to inspire creativity and collaboration.

Leadership Insights

Khalid Al Malik, the Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Holding Real Estate, expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, “Enhancing the Dubai Design District masterplan into an integrated creative neighborhood marks a pivotal step in fulfilling the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.” He emphasized that this development not only elevates Dubai Design District’s status but also positions the city as a leading destination for long-term investments and creative talent.

With its expansive vision and unique identity, the upgraded d3 masterplan is set to transform the district into a remarkable and globally relevant community. This environment will foster creativity and connect diverse talents from around the world, making it a haven for professionals seeking inspiration and collaboration.
