Early Aspirations: A Love for Mechanics

Growing up in a family where his father was a car mechanic, Nijat spent countless summer days immersed in the garage. It was there he cultivated a fascination for cars, learning to fix various mechanical issues under his father’s guidance. The gratification he experienced watching a well-repaired car run smoothly sparked a passion for mechanics, leading him to reflect that if he weren’t in hospitality, he might have pursued a career as a mechanic.

Discovering the Path to Becoming a Sommelier

Nijat’s journey into the realm of wine began unexpectedly during a Food & Beverage management training program in Florida. It was there that he met Marc-Etienne Hoffmann, the beverage director, who exposed him to the intricate world of wines. Thanks to Hoffmann’s encouragement and a nudge towards studying the WSET Guide, he developed a profound passion that has since defined his career.
