Dubai’s Economic Security Centre (ESCD) has initiated a nationwide awareness campaign aimed at tackling economic fraud, embodying the slogan “Strong Economy… An Aware Society.” This initiative is designed to equip citizens, businesses, and institutions with the essential knowledge, resources, and alertness necessary to confront the growing concern of economic fraud, particularly as our world becomes increasingly digital.

As methods of deception evolve, employing technologies like artificial intelligence and deepfake capabilities, this campaign emphasizes the importance of public awareness as the most effective means of defending not only the achievements of the UAE’s economy but also the global trust in Dubai’s business landscape. The goal is to create a well-informed society that can recognize and mitigate these emerging threats.

The campaign highlights various prevalent fraudulent tactics that are currently impacting both individuals and businesses. Among these are misleading advertisements, manipulation through deepfake technology, risks linked to online buying and selling, theft of bank card information via counterfeit links, phishing attempts through emails and SMS, and fraudulent investment schemes that promise unrealistically high returns. Additionally, manipulations within cryptocurrency and financial markets, as well as deceptive partnerships and business deals, are also addressed.

Faisal bin Sulaitin, the CEO of the ESCD, underscores the urgent need for a collective response, noting that economic fraud has transformed into a highly sophisticated threat. Its methods are constantly evolving, capable of deceiving even the most vigilant individuals and organizations. He emphasized the commitment of the ESCD to lead this fight, aiming to empower every citizen and business with the knowledge and confidence needed to tackle these challenges. Sulaitin believes that protecting the economy is a shared duty, and that remaining informed and united is crucial for ensuring sustainable economic strength.

The Economic Security Centre is urging community members to actively engage in the campaign by sharing awareness messages and their own experiences using the hashtags #StayAware and #TogetherWeProtectOurEconomy.
