Overview of the Dubai Economic Survey 2026
The Dubai Data and Statistics Establishment (DDSE), part of the Digital Dubai initiative, has called upon economic entities within the emirate, including those based in free zones, to contribute to the Economic Survey for 2026. This annual survey, which is being conducted throughout the year, aims to gather vital data that will inform government policy and enhance sustainable development within the emirate. Fieldwork for this cycle is set to continue until December 31, 2026.
The survey plays a crucial role in supporting the goals outlined in the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), designed to bolster the emirate’s economic data framework. It provides essential insights for decision-makers, empowering them to foster sustainable growth. The survey encompasses a wide range of sectors, including industry, trade, services, finance, real estate, transport, construction, healthcare, education, technology, hospitality, and culture.
Economic Growth Indicators
Preliminary estimates reveal a significant increase in Dubai’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), rising from AED 890 billion (approximately $242.3 billion) in 2024 to AED 972 billion (around $264.7 billion) in 2025. The employment landscape also reflects this growth, with the workforce expanding from 4.48 million to 4.69 million. Meanwhile, compensation for employees saw a rise from AED 397 billion ($108.1 billion) to AED 409 billion ($111.4 billion), illustrating ongoing economic vitality and job opportunities across the emirate.
Younus Al Nasser, the Chief Executive of the Data and Statistics Establishment, emphasized the growing importance of accurate and timely economic data. He noted that the Economic Survey not only provides essential insights for understanding economic shifts but also helps assess policy impacts and identifies potential future opportunities. Al Nasser stated that such initiatives are instrumental in shaping a knowledge-based economy in Dubai, allowing for well-informed and proactive decision-making.
Survey Participation Process
The DDSE utilizes established statistical methodologies to select participants, ensuring that the businesses surveyed represent a variety of economic sectors. Each selected establishment will be approached by a statistical researcher who will introduce the survey and clarify any queries. They will be provided with a dedicated electronic form to submit their information, making the process both efficient and secure. Businesses can attach financial documents to their submissions, ensuring comprehensive data collection.
The DDSE assures participants that all collected information will be safeguarded under strict privacy and confidentiality protocols. The agency has called upon all chosen businesses to collaborate in this survey, stressing that such participation is vital for enhancing the quality of economic data. This effort not only supports sustainable development but also positions Dubai as a global leader in data-driven policymaking and economic innovation.
