HyveGeo Secures Dubai Holding’s Premier Innovation Award
UAE climate-tech startup HyveGeo has emerged victorious in Dubai Holding’s Innovate For Tomorrow Impact Accelerator. This achievement includes funding for pilot projects and the chance to implement its innovative solutions within the Dubai Holding ecosystem.
### Celebrating Innovation in Sustainability
The announcement came during the Demo Day event held in Dubai, where investors, industry leaders, and partners gathered to listen to pitches from the top five finalists of the accelerator program. This annual event showcases Dubai Holding’s commitment to fostering cutting-edge solutions aimed at sustainability. Now in its second year, the “Innovate For Tomorrow” initiative aims to identify scalable projects that can address pressing environmental challenges, such as food waste and resource recovery.
This year’s competition received an impressive 1,400 applications from 93 countries, demonstrating the growing global commitment to sustainability-focused entrepreneurship. The selection process was rigorous, narrowing down the applicants to just 15 startups for a comprehensive 12-week accelerator program. This program, which took place from January to April, provided participants with resources like mentorship, masterclasses, and access to potential investors—all essential for developing pilot projects within Dubai Holding’s diverse portfolio.
### Empowering Scalable Solutions
Tala Khlat, the Director of Philanthropy at Dubai Holding, emphasized the organization’s belief in the potential of these startups to effect significant real-world change. According to Khlat, the solutions provided by the participants were closely evaluated to ensure they align with Dubai Holding’s sustainability goals and contribute positively to the broader aspirations of the UAE.
The culmination of the accelerator was evident during the final pitches, where the top five finalists showcased their innovative solutions designed to facilitate a transition to a more circular economy. HyveGeo took home the top accolade for its groundbreaking technology that transforms arid deserts into fertile soil while enhancing food security and aiding carbon reduction efforts.
### A New Era for HyveGeo
Abdulaziz Redha, the Chief Executive of HyveGeo, expressed excitement about the competition win, noting that it will accelerate the company’s growth phase. With the backing of Dubai Holding, they look forward to demonstrating their technology on a pilot scale, showcasing its efficiency in water conservation and its role in reintegrating waste into the circular economy.
In addition to the much-coveted pilot funding and implementation assistance, the winners of the accelerator shared a prize pool totaling AED850,000. HyveGeo received AED500,000 for its first-place finish, while the second and third places were awarded AED250,000 and AED100,000, respectively.
### Building a Sustainable Future
The Innovate For Tomorrow program aims to support the UAE’s ambitious sustainability objectives, including the UAE Circular Economy Policy 2031 and the Net Zero by 2050 strategy. As the program evolves, it continues to identify and scale innovative solutions that promise to make a lasting impact on the future of sustainability in the region.
This victory for HyveGeo serves as a beacon of hope and a tangible example of how innovation can pave the way for a brighter and more sustainable future.
