Dubai Holding Selects 15 Startups for $231,000 Tech Challenge
Dubai Holding has unveiled the 15 startups selected for the second iteration of its Innovate For Tomorrow program, which drew over 1,400 applications from 93 countries. This global initiative, focused on sustainability, features a prize pool of AED850,000 ($231,000) along with potential pilot opportunities for the innovative solutions presented by these companies.
Innovative Solutions for a Sustainable Future
The chosen startups span a range of sectors including environmental technology, recycling, sustainability, and digital innovation. They are poised to compete in formulating circular economy solutions that align with both Dubai Holding’s business ecosystem and the United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s broader sustainability goals. The program is run in collaboration with TECOM Group PJSC’s startup incubator, in5, and is supported by BOLT, enhancing the pathway for these ventures toward success.
Innovate For Tomorrow encourages global innovators to rethink resource consumption, production, and regeneration, fostering a shift toward a more sustainable and circular economy. Focused on three primary themes—food waste, resource recovery, and digital solutions for sustainability—the initiative emphasizes finding actionable, innovative concepts that can be applied in real-world settings.
Global Reach and Local Impact
Applications for the program came from diverse locations, including the UAE, India, the United Kingdom, and South Africa. Each submission underwent a rigorous evaluation process, assessing its relevance to existing challenges, impact potential, innovation, market validation, scalability, and feasibility within the UAE market. The successful participants represent a mix of countries including Norway, Spain, Switzerland, Denmark, and the Netherlands, showcasing the initiative’s international appeal.
These startups will partake in a comprehensive 12-week hybrid accelerator program running from January to April 2026. The program comprises mentorship, masterclasses, and specialized workshops led by industry experts alongside representatives from Dubai Holding, ensuring participants receive critical support and guidance.
Supporting UAE’s Circular Economy Goals
Designed to enhance business models and speed up market entry, this initiative also provides participating startups with valuable access to investor networks. The scale-up deemed most successful will be awarded pilot funding and the chance to implement a proof-of-concept project within Dubai Holding’s diverse portfolio.
Dubai Holding has articulated that the program aligns with national sustainability objectives, including the UAE Circular Economy Policy 2031, the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 strategic plan, and the UAE Centennial 2071 vision. The initiative is set to culminate in June 2026 with a Demo Day event, where the top five participating scale-ups will showcase their innovative solutions to a panel of investors, partners, and industry leaders.
The Innovate For Tomorrow program signals a growing competitive landscape among regional corporates and government-backed entities striving to attract startups dedicated to climate technology and circular economy innovations. As the UAE pushes for a more sustainable future, initiatives like this play a crucial role in growing a vibrant ecosystem for emerging solutions in sustainability.
