The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA Dubai) reports that the new “red carpet” lane service can decrease transit time by over 60%. Initially rolled out as a trial at Terminal 3 for premium travelers, the service has expanded significantly. In 2025 alone, 528,900 passengers utilized the Smart Corridor, and last year alone, 26.4 million people passed through the Smart Gates. This system is available to UAE nationals, residents, and guests on visa-on-arrival basis who possess biometric passports. However, families with children and individuals under 1.2 meters tall are currently not eligible for this innovative service.
