Kilkenny Sisters Thrive as Emirates Cabin Crew in Dubai

Sisters Soar Together as Emirates Cabin Crew

Two sisters from Kilkenny City, Éabha and Doireann Sloyan, have realized their dreams by embarking on an extraordinary journey as cabin crew members with Emirates Airlines. Their story emphasizes the importance of familial bonds and the pursuit of one’s dreams as the UAE celebrates 2026 as the Year of the Family.

A Shared Passion for Travel

Growing up side by side in Kilkenny, the Sloyan sisters nurtured a deep love for travel and exploration from a young age. “Travel was always a topic of discussion for us,” reflected Éabha, an alumnus of the National University of Ireland, Galway. Having spent over a year living and working in Dubai, she considers her time with Emirates a gateway to various destinations she had only dreamed about. “What makes this experience truly meaningful is the fact that I’m sharing it with my sister,” she remarked.

Doireann’s journey into cabin crew was inspired by Éabha’s success. Leaving her previous corporate job was a significant transition, but witnessing her sister flourish gave her the courage to make that leap. “Training was challenging yet fulfilling, and having Éabha already in Dubai simplified the adjustment,” Doireann shared. Their decision to embark on this adventure together exemplifies the power of family support in pursuing personal aspirations.

Training and Adventures Await

After successfully becoming Emirates cabin crew members, the sisters underwent extensive training at the airline’s prestigious academy in Dubai. This rigorous eight-week process opened doors to various roles within the airline, allowing them to operate on Emirates’ expansive global network. As they travel to different locations, the sisters frequently exchange stories about their experiences, layovers, and adventures in the skies.

“Rio de Janeiro stands out to me as a remarkable destination,” Éabha noted. She highlighted the vibrant culture, delicious food, and lively atmosphere, stating that each visit brings a fresh experience. Likewise, Doireann expressed her fondness for Australia, where a solid Irish community awaits. “It’s incredible to reunite with friends and relatives who have emigrated while fulfilling my work duties,” she said.

Embracing Life in Dubai

The sisters have embraced their new lifestyles in Dubai, describing the city as an exceptional blend of professional opportunities and personal enjoyment. “On our days off, we can choose between relaxation or adventure,” Éabha explained. Whether enjoying a morning at the beach or engaging in desert activities, life in Dubai feels distinct from typical work destinations. “It genuinely feels like a place to live,” she added.

Doireann agreed, noting the diverse community in Dubai, where one can meet individuals from around the globe while also connecting with a robust Irish network. “It makes Dubai feel surprisingly like home,” she said, reinforcing the value of family and community as they navigate this exhilarating chapter of their lives together.

Through their experiences as cabin crew members, Éabha and Doireann Sloyan shine as testaments to the potential of following dreams and the power of sibling support. Their story resonates with anyone striving to pursue their passions while cherishing the importance of family bonds, making them an inspiring example for others.
