The United Arab Emirates is gearing up to introduce a new support initiative for its tourism sector as heightened regional tensions related to the Iran situation have started to impact travel demand and aviation operations. New Relief Package on the Horizon

Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, the UAE’s Economy and Tourism Minister, has announced that authorities are continuously engaging with industry stakeholders to devise effective strategies aimed at alleviating pressures within the tourism sector. In an interview with Business Breakfast on Dubai Eye 103.8, he shared that a comprehensive support package is in the works, designed specifically to tackle the current challenges faced by tourism operators.

In a proactive move, the UAE government has already rolled out a short-term relief package valued at Dh1 billion. This package enables tourism businesses to defer critical government fees for three months starting from April 1. Hotels, for instance, can postpone up to 100% of sales fees related to room bookings and food and beverage services, as well as the Tourism Dirham. This measure aims to improve their immediate cash flow and keep operations running smoothly even during this challenging period.

These relief measures are not limited to traditional hotels; they also include hotel apartments and holiday homes, reflecting a comprehensive strategy to support different facets of the tourism industry. The overarching goal is to help operators manage their near-term expenses while maintaining consistent service standards for visitors.
