His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, has recently endorsed a range of initiatives set to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and bolster the digital economy of Dubai. This strategic push reflects Dubai’s commitment to becoming a frontrunner in digital innovation.

Accelerating AI Integration in the Private Sector

In a recent meeting of the Higher Committee for Future Technology Development and the Digital Economy, Sheikh Hamdan assessed ambitious plans to enhance the role of Agentic AI in Dubai’s private sector. With a focus on innovation, this initiative is geared towards empowering approximately 295,000 companies, which will benefit from the incorporation of AI technologies. The objective is not just to enhance efficiency but also to foster the development of 100 specialized AI assistants over the upcoming two years, while simultaneously helping to launch 50 new AI-centric enterprises.

Sheikh Hamdan emphasized that AI is a transformative force capable of generating new economic avenues and elevating business competitiveness in Dubai. With this initiative, the city aims to position itself as a global leader in the evolution and implementation of advanced AI solutions, aligning with global digital trends.

Hosting International Competitions and Strategic Projects

Additionally, Sheikh Hamdan sanctioned Dubai’s role as the host for the 50th International Collegiate Programming Contest World Finals, a prestigious event recognized as one of the largest programming competitions for students. Scheduled to take place from November 16 to 20, 2026, this competition will bring together 140 teams from over 70 nations, reinforcing Dubai’s status as a hub for global technological talent.

The meeting also resulted in the endorsement of significant projects, such as the Dubai Global Talent Network, designed to attract and connect international professionals. Moreover, a new Digital Twin System for Dubai Police was approved, utilizing advanced technology to bolster smart surveillance capabilities and facilitate real-time decision-making; a reflection of Dubai’s commitment to smart city initiatives.

Partnerships and Progress in Digital Economy Initiatives

Updates were presented regarding various digital economy initiatives currently underway, such as a noteworthy partnership with Amazon that has enabled over 105,000 small and medium-sized enterprises to enhance their digital trade operations. This collaboration underscores Dubai’s relentless pursuit of a thriving digital landscape that empowers local businesses.

Key projects like the Ignyte entrepreneurship platform, the Dubai AI Campus, and the Dubai PropTech Hub were also discussed. Notably, the Dubai Founders HQ has attracted over 1,100 members and 500 startups within just nine months since its inauguration, showcasing the city’s entrepreneurial spirit and innovation-driven ecosystem.
