IBPC Dubai AGM Strengthens India-UAE Economic Ties

The Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC) in Dubai recently held its Annual General Meeting (AGM), highlighting its significant role in fostering Indo-UAE collaboration. This event reaffirmed IBPC’s dedication to enhancing bilateral economic relationships, in alignment with long-term strategic objectives.

Strengthening Bonds Between India and the UAE

Chairman Siddharth Balachandran opened the meeting by underscoring the enduring friendship between the UAE and India. He emphasized that the purpose of IBPC remains crucial in promoting mutual prosperity. Balachandran outlined the Council’s evolution into a cohesive platform aimed at empowering the Indian business community in the UAE. Through collaboration, resilience, and a forward-looking vision, the IBPC aims to facilitate growth and partnerships within the business ecosystem.

The AGM reported remarkable progress over the past year, characterized by substantial membership growth and increased inclusivity, particularly among women. The Council expanded its events and initiatives, launching the “IBPC Dubai Inspire Podcast” to provide additional value to its members. This positive trajectory was supported by strong financial performance, ensuring institutional stability and readiness for future challenges.

Commitment to Economic Growth and Sector Development

A key focus of the AGM was the Council’s unwavering commitment to strengthening sectoral initiatives and the growth of its Focus Groups. These efforts align with Dubai’s D33 Agenda, which aspires to double the emirate’s economy by 2033 through over 100 transformative projects targeting innovation, infrastructure, and sustainability. The alignment also complements India’s vision of “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).

Each Focus Group within the Council will place greater emphasis on crucial areas such as solar energy, sustainability, and artificial intelligence. These focus areas reflect the evolving priorities pivotal to shaping future business landscapes and enhancing economic cooperation between the two nations.

Transparent Governance and Leadership Continuity

Emphasizing democratic governance, the Council assured members of the integrity of its electoral processes. Outgoing Election Officer Skandan Mahalingam presided over a fair and transparent election for Focus Group leaders, bolstering trust and institutional credibility among members. Dr. Sahitya Chaturvedi was reappointed for a second term as Secretary General, ensuring continuity in strategic execution and leadership.

The elected Focus Group Convenors include industry experts responsible for key sectors essential to Indo-UAE collaboration. This includes leaders in Health, Education, Financial Services, Technology, Real Estate, Energy, and Hospitality. This diverse representation ensures a multifaceted approach to promoting business strategies and enhancing cross-border partnerships.

Looking Ahead: Future Initiatives and Conferences

Looking ahead, IBPC Dubai is preparing for two flagship events: the West Asia Business Conclave and the Family Business Conference, both scheduled for April and May 2026. These conferences aim to further strengthen cross-border cooperation and engage thought leadership across the region.

Reflecting on the Council’s broader vision, Dr. Chaturvedi remarked, “Institutions that endure are those that evolve with purpose. IBPC Dubai stands committed to shaping narratives of trust, transparency, and transformation, bridging economies, empowering enterprises, and contributing meaningfully to the shared journeys of D33 and Viksit Bharat.” As IBPC continues to innovate and adapt, it remains a vital entity in fostering economic ties and collaboration between India and the UAE.
