In 2025, the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) unveiled impressive results, highlighting the emirate’s growing prominence as a leading global destination for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE). With an influx of participants and a diverse array of events, Dubai continues to carve out its niche in the international business landscape.
Record Attendance and Event Diversity
In 2025, DWTC recorded a remarkable 2.97 million attendees at its Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC) and Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC), marking a 12 percent increase from the previous year. This surge in attendance was powered by a robust calendar of 401 events, which saw a 6 percent uptick compared to 2024. The events spanned various categories, including international exhibitions, industry conferences, and consumer-focused gatherings, affirming Dubai’s commitment to delivering a dynamic range of business opportunities.
Helal Saeed Almarri, Director-General of DWTC, acknowledged the year as a groundbreaking period for the center, emphasizing its contribution to the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. He remarked on the strong international participation and multifaceted industry engagement that characterize Dubai’s thriving business events ecosystem. A significant milestone was the completion of Phase 1 of the Dubai Exhibition Centre expansion, which will significantly enhance the emirate’s capacity for hosting large-scale global events.
International Participation and Sector Growth
Among the hosted MICE events, DWTC attracted 134 gatherings that drew in 2.19 million participants, representing an 8 percent annual increase. With around 951,000 international attendees contributing 43 percent of the total, Dubai solidified its status as a vital hub for global trade and investment. Notably, over 63,000 exhibiting companies participated, with 78 percent representing international markets, demonstrating Dubai’s appeal to prominent global players and decision-makers across various sectors.
The year also featured 14 flagship exhibitions organized by DWTC, welcoming close to 630,000 participants—a 7 percent rise from the previous year. International attendees accounted for 41 percent of the total, illustrating Dubai’s capacity to draw global interest. Noteworthy events, such as Gulfood Manufacturing and GITEX Global, led significant participation growth, showcasing the strength and vibrancy of the emirate’s MICE offerings.
Diverse Sectors and New Initiatives
The range of sectors represented at DWTC’s events reinforces its alignment with the D33’s economic priorities. The healthcare sector emerged as the largest, hosting 23 events that attracted 436,000 attendees. Meanwhile, the information and communications technology sector, highlighted by GITEX Global, saw participation grow by 21 percent year-on-year, drawing in 341,000 attendees.
In 2025, DWTC also introduced seven new exhibitions, which contributed an additional 30,000 participants and 750 companies to its calendar. Events like the Middle East Event Show and Vision Plus Expo added to the diverse offerings, catering to various interests and industries. Furthermore, the completion of Phase 1 of the Dubai Exhibition Centre provided an additional 140,000 square meters of event space, conducive to accommodating even larger international gatherings.
Strategic Growth and Future Ambitions
As part of its growth strategy, DWTC’s Real Estate Division made significant advancements, including a joint venture with Emaar Properties for Terra Gardens and increased occupancy rates across its commercial assets. The establishment of the DWTC Free Zone further solidified its commitment to fostering a vibrant business ecosystem by licensing 850 new companies.
Looking ahead, DWTC remains focused on continued investment in infrastructure and capabilities to support Dubai’s long-term growth objectives. Almarri stressed the need for adaptability and long-term planning in a rapidly evolving landscape. As Dubai solidifies its reputation as a global business destination, DWTC is poised to enhance international partnerships and create a lasting economic impact in the years to come.
