BMS Establishes Strategic Alliance in India, Opens Dubai Office

BMS Group Ltd., a re/insurance broker headquartered in London, has recently established a strategic alliance in India with Berns Brett India, alongside the launch of BMS (DIFC) Ltd. in Dubai. This move is effective immediately and reflects BMS’s commitment to expanding its global footprint.

The partnership involves BMS acquiring a minority interest in Berns Brett India, with plans for this stake to increase over time. In line with this development, the organization will be rebranded as BMS (India) Ltd. The specifics of the financial arrangement, pending regulatory approval, have not been publicly shared. Nick Gillett, CEO of BMS International, expressed the significance of these regional investments, highlighting their potential for growth and their critical role in enhancing the company’s diversification and geographical reach.

Gillett emphasized India’s stature as an economic powerhouse, noting that it plays to BMS’s specialty skills and allows the firm to leverage robust local relationships alongside its extensive global expertise. This statement underscores BMS’s belief in the importance of the Indian market as a vital component of its international strategy.

Additionally, BMS announced the establishment of BMS (DIFC) Ltd. in Dubai, effective following the receipt of necessary licenses and regulatory clearances. This move is part of the company’s broader regional strategy, which encompasses operations from Turkey to the MENA area. BMS had first entered the Dubai market in 2023 by acquiring a major stake in Berns Brett Masaood, subsequently rebranded to BMS Masaood.

To lead the new operations in the Dubai International Financial Centre, BMS has appointed Ranji Sinha as the Senior Executive Officer, responsible for managing business activities across the MENA regions and Turkey, as well as overseeing all territories and classes of business underwritten in the DIFC. Lavanya Mamidanna will continue as the Managing Director of BMS Masaood, handling direct business in the UAE. Both executives will report to Vedanta Baruah, CEO of BMS Middle East & North Africa, and will maintain direct communication with the London headquarters. Baruah stated that BMS is firmly committed to the region, asserting that the company is well-equipped to provide services to its clients in both direct and reinsurance sectors, while also harnessing technical expertise from its global offices.
