From Ashgabat to Dubai: KinesteX Secures Over $1 Million Investment

KinesteX is an innovative startup birthed by ambitious entrepreneurs from Turkmenistan. In just three years, it has evolved from a simple concept into a successful international entity, boasting partnerships in 16 countries and surpassing $1 million in investment.

The Genesis of KinesteX

As the founder of KinesteX, I envisioned a world where everyone could have access to a personal trainer through an artificial intelligence-powered app. This idea came to life during the COVID-19 pandemic, when global lockdowns restricted physical activities, and many were left sedentary at home. Alarmingly, reports indicated nearly 70% of individuals were on track to suffer from back and other physical issues due to inactivity by 2027. This revelation propelled us to create a solution that would enable individuals to work out from the comfort of their homes.

Our app allows users to launch workouts anytime, receiving real-time feedback on their form and performance. The AI coach not only corrects movements but also motivates users, counts calories and repetitions, and even injects some humor into the process, making fitness engaging and accessible.

Our Core Team and Initial Struggles

I co-founded KinesteX with my talented partners, Perman, our Chief Product Officer, and Vladimir, our Chief Technology Officer. Banding together in Turkmenistan, our diverse backgrounds and creative problem-solving approaches set the foundation for our startup. However, the journey was far from easy. In our first two years, we grappled with the complexities of the tech world, often feeling like we were learning as we went along. We attempted five different business models, which ultimately failed, but perseverance led us to discover a model that finally succeeded just over a year ago.

Our breakthrough involved packaging our AI trainer into a Software Development Kit (SDK) for integration within other applications through a White Label strategy.

Understanding Our Audience

Currently, KinesteX has successfully partnered with 111 companies, including 27 paying clients, and operates across 16 nations, with our base in Dubai. We focus on three primary market segments:

  1. B2C Consumer Health: Targeting health apps that reach users directly.
  2. Corporate Wellness: Providing solutions for businesses looking to improve employee health and activity.
  3. Insurance Sector: Collaborating with insurance companies to enhance their wellness applications.

Our active development in these areas is yielding promising results as we continue to grow.

Overcoming Challenges and Celebrating Achievements

We’ll never forget the hurdles we faced. Early-stage startups often disperse their focus across too many ideas, and we fell into that trap. Learning the importance of concentrating on a single business model was transformative for our success. Another roadblock was our status as first-time founders, often lacking recognition and trust in a skeptical market. It took relentless work and networking to break through that wall of distrust.

Yet, our team has emerged as our greatest asset. Comprising over 20 talented individuals from five different nations, our combined expertise is invaluable. Additionally, our advisory board includes notable figures, such as our key investor from Dubai’s royal family. Their mentorship has been instrumental in navigating challenges and fostering resilience.

We’ve received accolades, including the “Best Application of AI in Medicine” award at the AICA forum in Uzbekistan, which has greatly enhanced our visibility. Moreover, we’re currently collaborating on initiatives with the Government of Dubai to promote physical health.

Looking Ahead

Our most ambitious goal is to extend beyond just offering tools for activity; we aim to provide a complete AI-powered personal trainer experience. Currently undergoing beta testing, the app captures a user’s unique needs through quizzes and assessments, crafting personalized training plans based on their fitness levels. This iterative approach not only tracks progress every three weeks but ensures users receive tailored support toward their wellness goals.
