The emirate has achieved an impressive second place in the inaugural Intelligent Cities Index released by Boston Consulting Group (BCG). Notably, Dubai also ranks first globally for its adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and smart city technologies, highlighting the pivotal role AI plays in enhancing public services, boosting economic competitiveness, and improving urban living conditions.

Understanding the Intelligent Cities Index

The Intelligent Cities Index assessed 61 cities across 39 countries, focusing on the effectiveness of digital technologies and AI in generating tangible benefits for both residents and businesses. The evaluation criteria were organized into five key pillars: Outcomes, Strategy, Adoption, Ways of Working, and Enablers. In total, 35 indicators were analyzed across 14 dimensions of digital transformation, providing a comprehensive overview of a city’s advancement in smart technologies.

Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, the Director General of Digital Dubai, emphasized that this achievement is a direct reflection of the emirate’s leadership’s vision. Al Mansoori highlighted that the comprehensive digital ecosystem of Dubai, characterized by data-sharing and collaboration across all sectors, underpins this success by turning advanced technologies into valuable public services.
