UAE Q1 2026 GDP Increases 3% to Dh485 Billion, Driven by 4.8% Non-Oil Growth
Non-oil GDP has seen a remarkable increase of 4.8%, contributing 79.4% to the national economy, up from 78% in Q1 2025. This data, released by the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre, indicates robust economic performance even amid regional challenges.
Fastest Growth in Finance Sector
During this quarter, the financial and insurance sectors emerged as the most rapidly growing segments of the economy, achieving an impressive growth rate of 17.3% year-on-year. Other sectors also fared well; construction grew by 8.1%, while human health and social work activities increased by 7.7%. The information and communication sector experienced a 5.9% rise, followed closely by professional, scientific, and technical services, along with administrative and support services, which grew at a rate of 4.9%. Real estate also recorded notable growth of 4.8%, accompanied by increases in public administration, defense, and compulsory social security at 4.5%. The wholesale and retail trade sectors grew modestly at 2.6%.
Al Gergawi has assured that the government will collaborate with both private and public sectors to translate these economic advancements into meaningful opportunities for citizens, residents, and investors alike.

Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, the Minister of Economy and Tourism, emphasized that non-oil sectors are crucial for continued economic prosperity and for cementing the UAE’s reputation as a hub for business and investment. He remarked that the figures from the first quarter of 2026 reflect the resilience of the national economy, highlighting its capability to sustain growth and bolster competitiveness at both regional and global levels. This is a strong testament to the effective policies and strategies implemented under visionary leadership aimed at enhancing economic diversification. Surge in Non-Oil Exports
Non-oil exports have surged by an impressive 23.9% during the first half of 2026, totaling Dh452.8 billion. This outstanding growth rate positions the non-oil export sector as the leader in the UAE’s foreign trade landscape. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, noted that the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (CEPA) program has opened up numerous new markets for UAE goods and services, contributing significantly to this increase.
