Dubai is solidifying its status as a premier global trade and logistics hub through strategic measures aimed at enhancing economic stability and fostering business confidence. The city’s governmental initiatives are designed to support the private sector and ensure seamless trade operations amidst changing global dynamics.

Economic Support Initiatives

Under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Customs has rolled out various economic support packages that have bolstered the emirate’s long-term business sustainability. These measures have injected over AED79 million (approximately $21.51 million) into the private sector, facilitating uninterrupted trade activities that amounted to AED33.9 billion ($9.23 billion) between March and June 2026. This financial support has not only helped maintain supply chain resilience but also enabled thousands of businesses to continue operations with confidence, aligning with the broader objectives outlined in Dubai’s economic strategy, D33.

His Excellency Abdulla bin Damithan, Chairman of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, emphasized the emirate’s capability to adapt quickly to shifting circumstances. This agility is one of the cornerstones of Dubai’s economic success. As challenges arose regionally, the corporation swiftly mobilized its resources to provide practical solutions, ensuring ongoing business continuity and bolstering investor confidence in Dubai’s market landscape.

Strengthening Trade Flow Flexibility

The facilitation measures introduced by Dubai Customs have significantly improved the flexibility of trade operations. Notably, Customs Notice No. (12/2026) extended deadlines for suspended duty cases, benefiting 6,613 companies with an additional 120-day timeframe for customs declarations. This extension allowed businesses to manage their customs duties more effectively, contributing to improved cash flow and sustainable trade practices.

Further adjustments included Customs Notices Nos. (14/2026) and (15/2026), which permitted installment payments for customs duties and dramatically reduced financial penalties by 80%. The initiatives also include an expansion of the transit period from 30 to 90 days and streamlined entry procedures through multiple ports. By prioritizing customs transactions related to essential goods like food and medicines, these measures have significantly bolstered supply chains in and out of Dubai.

Green Corridor Initiative

In response to geopolitical challenges, Dubai Customs proactively established the Green Corridor to ensure the flow of trade remains uninterrupted. From March 1 to June 30, 2026, the initiative facilitated the movement of over 203,242 containers, representing more than 3.16 million tonnes of goods valued at AED33.9 billion. This underscores Dubai’s efficient handling of logistics and supply chain management, allowing goods—particularly food products, machinery, and pharmaceuticals—to continue reaching markets reliably.

The implementation of the Green Corridor mirrors Dubai Customs’ commitment to leverage technology for enhancing operational efficiency. The use of the Shahin platform equipped with smart electronic seals ensures swift customs processing, maintaining an impressive clearance rate of 93%. This is a testament to the proactive measures undertaken for optimizing customs efficiency.

Engaging the Business Community

Dubai Customs has further strengthened its relationship with the business community by actively engaging and identifying over 83 challenges related to customs operations. The integration of feedback from these interactions led to the swift implementation of practical initiatives, elevating the efficiency of customs processes and enhancing overall service delivery.

These comprehensive measures showcase Dubai’s commitment to maintaining its position as a competitive economic powerhouse. By fostering a cooperative environment with the private sector and implementing adaptive strategies, Dubai Customs continues to lay the groundwork for sustainable growth and economic flourishing. This synchronization between governmental and business efforts is essential for Dubai’s prosperity in the evolving global landscape.
