Dubai Customs Provides AED 79 Million Boost for Trade Growth

Dubai is solidifying its position as a key global trading hub with the introduction of the Green Corridor initiative, designed to ensure smooth trade flows through alternative routes. This strategic move aims to maintain the movement of goods across borders, promoting economic resilience and supporting a diverse array of businesses.

Green Corridor: Facilitating Trade and Investment

The Green Corridor initiative has been instrumental in keeping Dubai’s trade network robust. During its operation from March to June 2026, it facilitated the transit of over 203,242 containers and more than 3.16 million tonnes of goods valued at over AED 33.9 billion. This initiative saw participation from 188 countries, showcasing Dubai’s global reach and commitment to uninterrupted commerce. With a wide variety of goods being traded, from food products to machinery, the corridor reflects the city’s diverse economic landscape.

As explained by Abdulla bin Damithan, Chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, the initiative showcases Dubai’s adaptability amid changing international dynamics. The seamless movement of goods not only reinforces investor confidence but also emphasizes the emirate’s strategic decisions that safeguard its economic achievements.

Customs Support Measures Keep Business Flowing

Dubai Customs has rolled out a suite of economic support measures that are crucial for sustaining business operations. These facilitation measures were initiated after directives from His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, providing more than AED 79 million in liquidity to the private sector. By extending deadlines for suspended duty cases, over 6,600 companies have benefitted, further enhancing Dubai’s economic performance.

Dr. Abdulla Busenad, Director General of Dubai Customs, highlighted that such proactive measures enable firms to thrive under varying market pressures. Over the same period, Dubai Customs successfully attracted more than 4,000 new customers, reinforcing the emirate’s position as a leading destination for investment. The integrated support package also included arrangements for customs duties to be paid in instalments and an 80% reduction in financial penalties, alleviating operational burdens for businesses.

Sustaining Economic Growth Through Partnerships

The partnership between Dubai Customs and the business community has evolved, leading to quick identification of challenges and the implementation of practical solutions. The collaboration helped recognize over 83 issues related to logistics and customs procedures, which were swiftly transformed into actionable initiatives that improved service efficiency.

The economic packages reflect a commitment to fostering a flexible trade ecosystem that not only supports local businesses but also attracts international investment. Rashid Al-Sharid, Executive Director of the Finance and Administration Division at Dubai Customs, stated that these measures aim to fortify company resilience and facilitate smoother trading conditions.

In essence, Dubai’s Green Corridor and associated economic initiatives are geared towards sustaining growth in an ever-changing global landscape. By prioritizing trade continuity and enhancing supply chain resilience, Dubai solidifies its status as a premier global trade hub, strategically connecting diverse markets and fostering business innovation.
