Emirates Introduces A380 to Delhi, Expands Premium Economy in India

Emirates is launching a groundbreaking enhancement to its operations in India starting October 25. This transformation will see the introduction of the A380 aircraft to Delhi and the rollout of Premium Economy class to six cities in India, marking the most extensive expansion of this service in the country thus far.

Expanding A380 Service to Delhi

Delhi will become the third Indian city to experience Emirates’ A380 service, following Mumbai and Bengaluru. Flights EK512 and EK513 will operate using this cutting-edge aircraft in a four-class setup. Notably, Premium Economy will also be accessible on Emirates’ other three daily flights connecting Delhi to Dubai, operated by the modified Boeing 777s. Thus, from October, all daily flights between Delhi and Dubai will include the Premium Economy offering, enhancing the travel experience for passengers.

Upgrades to Kolkata and Beyond

Kolkata is set for a significant upgrade as well, transitioning from the Boeing 777 to Emirates’ latest Airbus A350 on the daily EK570 and EK571 flights. In addition, five weekly flights will still be served by the retrofitted 777, ensuring that Premium Economy will be available across all 12 weekly services connecting Kolkata to Dubai. This thoughtful upgrade improves the overall travel experience, providing travelers with more premium options.

By the end of October, Premium Economy will be rolled out in six Indian cities: Delhi with four daily services, Kolkata with 12 weekly flights, Mumbai boasting 22 weekly services, and other cities like Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, and Kochi featuring nine, seven, and two weekly services, respectively. This expansion significantly increases access to premium travel options for passengers across the country.

Commentary from Emirates Leadership

“We are excited to introduce our highly awaited A380 services to Delhi, one of the key gateways in our global network,” remarked Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer. He added that the airline is also committed to broadening the availability of its Premium Economy product across India, now reaching six different gateways and nearly half of their weekly scheduled flights.

Enhanced On-Ground and In-Flight Experiences

On the ground, Emirates has been proactive in enhancing customer service by opening retail travel stores in both Delhi and Mumbai, with plans for similar stores in Hyderabad and Bengaluru, alongside a dedicated call center in Mumbai. In the air, travelers can expect a wealth of regionally inspired menus and a multilingual cabin crew. The airline also offers over 6,500 entertainment channels, including popular Bollywood content and programming in various regional languages, catering specifically to the tastes and preferences of Indian passengers.

Currently, Emirates operates a robust network of nine gateways in India, facilitating 167 weekly flights that link travelers to nearly 140 destinations worldwide. This comprehensive expansion and enhanced service offerings underline Emirates’ commitment to providing a superior travel experience for its Indian clientele.
