Dubai World Trade Center Draws 2.18 Million Visitors in 2025
Dubai’s thriving event landscape has captivated millions, with the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) standing at the forefront. In 2025, this prominent venue attracted over 2.18 million attendees through 108 major events, contributing an impressive AED25 billion (approximately US$6.8 billion) to the local economy. This surge in participation and economic impact underscores Dubai’s position as a global hub for exhibitions and conferences.
Record Economic Contributions
The latest Economic Impact Assessment from DWTC reveals that these events generated AED14.66 billion (about US$4 billion) in Gross Value Added (GVA) to Dubai’s GDP. This figure represents a notable 12% increase from the previous year, marking 2025 as the most significant annual contribution that DWTC has ever recorded. This growth not only reflects the resilience of the local economy but also highlights the effectiveness of Dubai’s strategic efforts to enhance its business environment.
Boosting Business Tourism
A substantial segment of the attendees comprised nearly 947,000 international visitors, representing 44% of the total participation. This influx bolstered Dubai’s reputation as a key player in global business tourism. Interestingly, international attendees spent an average of AED9,900 (approximately US$2,695) on each event—almost seven times the amount spent by local participants—while staying in the city for an average of 5.6 days. This significant disparity in spending underscores the potential of international visitors to drive economic growth in areas such as hospitality and entertainment.
Job Creation and Economic Activity
The economic momentum generated by DWTC’s events translated into the support of over 94,000 jobs within Dubai’s Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector and related industries—a 10% increase from the last year. These jobs contributed an impressive AED4.7 billion (around US$1.28 billion) in disposable household income, showcasing a 13.6% rise compared to 2024. This job growth not only enriches Dubai’s workforce but also exemplifies the event industry’s role as an economic stabilizer.
Sector-wise Economic Breakdown
Various sectors reaped the benefits of DWTC’s high-profile events. Accommodation services contributed AED3.79 billion (around US$1.03 billion), while travel and transport followed with AED2.98 billion (US$811 million). Retail sectors accounted for AED2.55 billion (US$694 million), with restaurants and food & beverage services yielding AED2.1 billion (US$572 million). Additionally, business entertainment brought in AED1.81 billion (US$493 million)—a clear indication of the broad economic canvas painted by these gatherings.
The healthcare and medical segment emerged as the largest contributor to economic value in 2025. Through 20 events attracting over 434,000 participants, this sector generated AED3.73 billion (about US$1.02 billion). Meanwhile, food and beverage contributed AED2.38 billion (around US$648 million), and electronics and technology accounted for AED1.99 billion (approximately US$542 million), further demonstrating the diverse economic opportunities crafted by DWTC.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, commended these milestones, emphasizing how global business events serve as catalysts for investment and market growth. He underlined the tangible economic benefits spread across various sectors, illustrating that the success of such events in Dubai is not just a local phenomenon but a crucial element in shaping the emirate’s future.
