From Philippine Dreams to Dubai Skies: Nacel Concepcion’s Journey

Nacel Concepcion’s journey began in the Philippines, a pathway that leads to her vital role as a cabin crew member with flydubai. Since her arrival in the UAE in 2000, the city has been instrumental in shaping the trajectory of her life, providing her with experiences that have transformed her dreams into reality.

A Childhood Dream Ignited

At just 12 years old in Manila, Nacel’s aspirations took flight when she observed a woman in a crisp airline uniform pulling a small trolley bag. Intrigued, she approached her father to discover that the woman was a flight stewardess. “The moment he said airplane, that was it. I knew that’s what I wanted to do,” she recalled. This pivotal moment was the spark that ignited her passion for aviation, propelling her toward a career that would eventually span multiple countries and cultures.

Fast forward to June 2, 2009, Nacel marked the anniversary of her first operational flight to Amman, Jordan, a significant milestone that signified the realization of that childhood dream. Over the years, she navigated the complexities of the aviation industry, confronting challenges that have made her more resilient and adaptable. “Every experience taught me something valuable,” she noted, highlighting how her journey has not only shaped her profession but also the person she has become.

Growing with Dubai

Nacel’s life in Dubai began with her mother, who had moved to the UAE in search of better opportunities. Despite initially dreaming of a different life back in the Philippines, Nacel found herself deeply rooted in Dubai’s vibrant community. “This is where I got my very first job… my entire professional journey started in Dubai,” she reflects. Her dreams evolved, and Dubai became more than a temporary refuge—it transformed into a place of permanence and opportunity.

Throughout her time in the UAE, she has witnessed the city undergo remarkable changes, evolving from a burgeoning regional center to a global leader in aviation and business. “I arrived in Dubai when the city was very different from what it is today,” she shared. The constant transformation around her reinforced essential life skills, including the importance of adaptation and the value of hard work. “It taught me that growth doesn’t happen overnight,” she added.

Building a Life and Community

Nacel currently resides in Sharjah with her nine-year-old son, Santiago. The UAE has become her home, offering a possibility not just for professional advancement but also for personal fulfillment. Although her family dynamics have changed over the years, she has built her own life in Dubai, marked by significant milestones and cherished memories.

“Home is where you grow, where you build your life and where your most important memories are made,” she asserts. For Nacel, Dubai offers a rare blend of safety, stability, and community that is hard to find elsewhere. “Life is convenient, opportunities are everywhere, and people from different cultures live side by side,” she notes. This multicultural environment has enriched her life, forming an essential part of her narrative.

As she reflects on her journey, Nacel recognizes that her past experiences in Dubai have not only equipped her for the challenges of her role in aviation but have also shaped her identity and values. “I have always felt welcome here,” she states, a testament to the city that continues to inspire her and countless others from diverse backgrounds.
